The cigarette holder was as much a trademark of Hunter’s as the Gonzo Fist. Someone once dubbed him “the last of the glamorous smokers.” He favored red Dunhills, their strongest variety. I always carried one or two of the holders in my pocket when I was with him, just in case. He smoked constantly, so the filter provided some measure of harm reduction. At least it wasn’t lung cancer that killed him in the end. These are the only ones I have left from those days.
